DangerJudy > This is the 'party field' past Maureen's house. I went up here to visit caver friends and also to cave. This is on Sewanee Mountain in Tennessee. Much of the property on this Mountain has been purchased by cavers. It's like a little country within a country - bat stickers indicating where yet another caver has moved into the 'neighborhood'.
DangerJudy > Another view of the 'party field'. There is a big fire ring and an outhouse. A couple of trailers are on the property, too, for storage. There is a tap with city water.
This was my first visit to Maureen's and to Sewanee Mountain. In the middle of the night I woke up. There was a barred owl calling! (I love owls). I got up to pee and the stars were out, clear and bright. The air was cold, in the 20's. A wonderful night.
DangerJudy > My tent on the 'party field' and my Subaru Forester.
DangerJudy > This is a cool tent that Frank Case bought at Unclaimed Baggage for $35. He thought he had bought a dome tent, and took it backpacking before setting it up - found out that it's actually a sort of caterpillar tent. He also had a Jansport daypack he got there for $5. That is Andy Zerbe sitting in front of the tent.
DangerJudy > Inside we see the tent body. One half of this structure is a vestibule!
Jason was also camping in a tent he got at Unclaimed Baggage, a new, in the box, never used Coleman dome tent for $15. Jason and Frank are the kings of Unclaimed Baggage finds.
Frank had 5 sleeping bags he bought from Unclaimed Baggage for $15-20 a piece over the years. He told me he slept on 3, with two on top. He looks for 'name brands' like Marmot.
DangerJudy > Another view of the cool tent. This is similar in design to a Hilleberg mountaineering tent, though certainly not so sturdily made.

I'm jealous of it.
DangerJudy > Another view of the cool tent. $35 !!!!!
DangerJudy > Sign on road approacing Maureen's house. It's for real!
DangerJudy > Maureen's house. Considering it was 29-33 degrees all day Sunday, there were no nudists prancing about.
